Course
Description
A one day, class/seminar that
aims to assist in helping expectant
parents better
prepare in bringing their new baby home to their dog(s).
This is a human-only seminar.
Kids and
dogs....Ahhh...
Visions of your children
frolicking through the fields with good Ol'
Lassie: that's the stuff that dreams and
television shows are made of.
Oftentimes,
It's also one of the Great American
Myths.
While children and dogs can
grow up together and have a wonderful
lasting relationship, expectant parents need to
be armed with information in order to create a
safe home environment for their new baby, family
members, and the dog(s) they love.
A
good relationship between your dog and your
children begins with YOU. Oftentimes, when
parents are overwhelmed with both the excitement
and stresses of bringing home a new baby, they
often overlook their first "pride and joy".
Having a new baby int he home can often be a
source of stress, displacement, and envy for
your well-loved dog.
DON'T LET YOUR DOG OR
YOUR CHILD BECOME A STATISTIC!
Having a new
baby in the house will most certainly be an
adjustment for everyone. Certainly, there will
need to be some changes in your dog's life.
These changes need to be instituted well before
the day you bring your new baby home. If
you've just brought home a newborn, and there's
some friction rising to the surface,
you'll need to get started ASAP!
"Baby
on Board" is a must for expectant parents and
family members in dog-loving households to help
prepare both dogs and humand for the baby's
arrival home. The program focuses on keep the
dog and newborn safe, while fostering a loving
and lasting relationship between all involved
for years to come.
A NOTE FROM THE
INSTRUCTOR:
Dear Proud Parents and
Fellow Dog Lovers, You are about to embark on
an incredible journey filled with "firsts" and
immesurable joys with your beautiful new
baby.
Like many pet owners who are about to
bring home their first child, you might
find yourself suddenly concerned about your
faithful pal's behavior and worried how he or
she will adjust to no longer being the "baby" of
the house. Behaviors that were once
tolerated such as impolite greetings (jumping,
etc.) to more worrisome issues (resource
guarding and aggression) can quickly shift from
annoyance to outright dangerousness with a new
baby in the house.
There's no doubt about
it, trying to manage a dog and a new baby is
hard. However, with the right guidance and
instruction MOST dogs adjust quickly
and readily accept their new "pack"
member. Learning this new version of
"family" and adjusting
to the inevitable shift in division of time and
schedule will be an
adjustment for everyone,
dog and human alike. The key here is
ensuring that this transisiton goes as smoothly
as possible, and it begins with educating
YOU,
as soon as possible if
not BEFORE the baby arrives.
"Baby on
Board", Preparing Your Dog for Your New Baby! is
the result of private consultations and
conversations over the years with clients,
friends, family members, and medical
professionals. At the beckoning of friends
and colleagues I am pleased to bring this
exciting new seminar to the expecting and recently
new parent population of MA, NH, and
ME.
Please join us for the one pre-natal
and post-natal class dog owners cannot afford
to miss! And remember, it's time we made
dog bites to children history...
Tail
Wags,
